Investment Counselors of Maryland, a $4 billion asset manager with most of its portfolios in the domestic equities market, installed Advent Software's Axys portfolio management system. The company decided that the delays in upgrading its incumbent system, Sungard Asset Management's NIDS Port software to Year 2000 compliance would not satisfy its clients. ICM needed to notify the audit departments for its clients that it would be Year 2000 compliant (January 2, 1998).
