SS&C Technologies helped found Caminus Energy Ventures as a joint venture with GFI Energy Ventures, a Los Angeles venture capital firm and Oaktree Capital Management, which has $10.5 billion in assets under management. SS&C chief operating officer David Stoner later became chief executive for Caminus. At the end of last year, SS&C sold its interest in the company for $2.3 million, while retaining an option to purchase a 4.5 percent interest at a later date (May 22, 1998).
