Just as BSIT was going to press this month, I noticed with interest that Dutch investment bank ABN Amro and global IT giant EDS were in the throes of concluding an outsourcing deal that is set to make the record books.

The contract was not out of the ordinary per se – outsourcing deals in the financial services industry are still prevalent despite the tough times – but its size certainly was. The five-year agreement is mooted to be in the region of a whopping $1.5 billion. Who says size doesn’t
