INVESTMENT firms shopping for news management software may increasingly find themselves beset by a new contender. Last month, the so-called Investment Dealers Digest News Management System completed its rollout at Chemical Bank in New York City, following 15 months in development and beta tests. The application--which is being marketed by IDD Information Services Inc.--distributes consolidated news feeds from a Unix-based server to desktop PCs, allowing some 200 of Chemical's investment bankers
