Our story a couple of weeks ago about Mxnet's sale to IPC Information Systems and its impact on Reuters America's Project Yankee raised a few eyebrows.

At the time, we were inundated with calls from various sources--some old, some new, some very old--indicating that this was a major blow to the Yankee initiative to develop an equities service for the US marketplace. Such was the level (and consistency) of noise that we decided to run with the story, despite protestations from Reuters.
