Dow Jones Acquires Federal Filings

Looking to expand its family of news services, Dow Jones & Co. last week purchased Federal Filings Inc., a supplier of online filings made by publicly held companies with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

A spokesman for Dow Jones says the purchase represents the first instance of a news service purchase by the company. But the purchase does not portend a Dow Jones buying spree; Federal Filings is a special case, the spokesman said.
