Reuters Results Gloomy but No Disaster

LONDON--Reuters reports that sales of 3000 Xtra, its high-end data display product, increased last year. It plans to add instant messaging and Bridge transaction capabilities to the platform later this year. Not all news at last week's earnings call was good, however, as the vendor reported a decline in its pre-tax profits by 34 percent.

3000 Xtra exceeded the year-end target of 50,000 positions by more than 6,000 units. This included key sales to BNP Paribas (IMD, June 4), Dresdner and Credit
