Datacenter and hosting provider Telx has appointed former president and chief financial officer Chris Downie chief executive, officially replacing Eric Shepcaro, who passed away earlier this year.

Downie -- who has led the company since Shepcaro's death -- joined Telx in 2007, prior to which he was chief operating officer and principal executive officer at satellite communications service provider Motient Corporation, and previously as senior vice president and chief financial officer at BroadStreet Communications.

Before joining BroadStreet, he was vice president of investment banking at Daniels and Associates, a firm specializing in media and communications industries, prior to which he served as a financial analyst in Bear Stearns' corporate finance department.
