Infrastructure Management webcast
Over the years, the "infrastructure" of financial markets has gone from the network of people on exchange floors to phone lines, then dedicated lines for data and trading terminals, and ultimately sophisticated, high-performance interfaces and messaging layers connecting trading firms, marketplaces and regulators, creating a multitude of challenges for IT professionals. But with the rising cost of ultra-low-latency data infrastructures prompting some firms to focus their infrastructure investments elsewhere, what will be the next challenges for market data infrastructures?
• Assessing the ability-and appetite-to meet latency, capacity and other infrastructure issues amid continuing economic pressures and tight budgets. What are firms' main infrastructure concerns, and how are they addressing these, leveraging existing investments, and refocusing investments to meet new priorities?
• What new technologies are firms adopting to meet performance and cost requirements, including hardware acceleration as well as "open" and "open-source" technologies? What challenges exist to implementing these, what areas and functions are prime candidates for adoption, and can these address competition hurdles around creating "mix-and-match" end-to-end solutions while avoiding vendor lock-in?
• What other features are firms looking for in next-generation data infrastructures, such as scalability, flexibility, agility, and capabilities for self-monitoring and maintenance-and how well are providers and consumers of infrastructure technologies responding to these requirements and making the most of the results to rebuild the concept of infrastructures?
