Poland's CSD began assigning FISN codes on November 17

The Central Securities Depository of Poland, or Krajowy Depozyt Papierów Wartościowych (KDPW), has begun issuing Financial Instrument Short Name (FISN) codes corresponding to ISIN and CFI codes, which it issues to local and foreign financial instruments.

According to KDPW officials, FISN codes will ensure a uniform approach to standardize short names for financial instruments consistent with international standards. FISN codes have up to 35 alphanumeric characters, including a short name for the issuer and a short description of financial instrument characteristics.

In December 2013, the Regulatory Oversight Committee designated KDPW as the pre-local operating unit (pre-LOU) authorized to issue legal entity identifiers in Poland.
