SGX Debuts Smart Beta Index
The new index will appeal to investors seeking alternative index strategies, SGX officials say.
The SGX Developed Asia ex-Japan Quality Index features a factor-selection method with a bottom-up approach to selecting its constituents, and was created using data sourced from S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Alpha Factor Library. SGX struck a deal with S&P last year which gave the exchange access to S&P’s research to identify sources of alpha and enhance its own existing index research and design capabilities.
The index is the first smart beta index to be launched from the SGX’s Index Edge
