UAE Bank Installs DDoS Software for Cyber Protection

UAE-based bank Mashreq implements cyber security from Prolexic.

Mashreq, a United Arab Emirates (UAE) bank, has installed Prolexic's Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) software to guard against cyber-attacks.

David Horton, head of strategy at Mashreq, says the firms has employed the 500 gigabits per second (Gbps) cloud-based mitigation platform as a protective measure, following the recent increase in DDoS attacks against banks.

A recent report by Hollywood-headquartered Prolexic claims that 5.7 quadrillion bits of data and 1.1 trillion malicious packets were identified during the first quarter of 2012, a 3,000 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2011.
