Ramsay joins from a senior regulatory role at the SEC.

At the venue, made famous by a leading role in Michael Lewis's latest book, Flash Boys, Ramsay will oversee compliance and liaison functions, along with self-regulatory obligations once IEX achieves national securities exchange status.

He was most recently the acting director of the division of trading and markets at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Through his career, he has served in a number of regulatory posts, including at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the National Association of Securities Dealers, now the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
