CFTC's Commissioner O'Malia to Resign Next Month

Scott O'Malia
Scott O'Malia will resign from his position of commissioner for the US CFTC.

O'Malia will leave his post on August 8 to pursue other opportunities after four-and-a-half years as commissioner.

"I am especially proud of the contribution I have made to advance the technology agenda for the Commission," he says in the letter. "As chairman of the Technology Advisory Committee, I was able to focus the Commission's attention on critical issues surrounding automated trading, automated risk controls and vital customer protection to monitor customer funds."

He recently highlighted the difficulties the Commission was facing while trying to check and perform surveillance on the data it receives from the swap data repositories.
