Swift Institute Enters Blockchain Scrum with New Grants

Swift arm to grant up to EUR15,000 for new studies.

The grants — which can be applied to either theoretical or empirical research — come on the back of increased interest in the distributed ledger technology through the first half of 2015.

"In recent months various institutions have announced plans to explore or use (in limited scope) blockchain in the securities markets," the call for proposals notes. "UBS Bank have been working on smart-bonds on the blockchain, in the theory that it could allow for instantaneous settlement rather than the days
