The End of an Era

Rob Daly leaves Incisive Media today after nearly a decade covering the financial technology sector.

"End of an era" is a cliché that gets used so much that for a lot of people, it's become a pretty meaningless expression. But today genuinely does mark the end of an era for Waters and WatersTechnology: Today is Rob Daly's final day with the company.

It's difficult to adequately convey the significance of Rob's input over the years. He has been with the company for nigh on a decade, initially as part of the Risk Waters Group, working on Waters magazine, and then as the editor of Dealing With Technology, before moving back to Waters as US Editor and online editor of WatersTechnology.com in May 2010.

I am not ashamed to say that over the last ten years it's become apparent to me that Rob has forgotten more about financial technology than I am ever likely to know. He has the enviable ability to comprehend, contextualize, absorb and recall even the most obscure technology-related information, a skill that has served him well during his tenure at the company, making him one of the most respected technology journalists in his field.

But more than this, Rob is simply a good, solid guy. This is borne out by the quality and number of his industry contacts, many of whom, no doubt, will miss his presence as much as we will.

Good luck Rob, wherever you end up. I, and everyone else in Incisive Media's Financial Technology Group, will miss your advice, support and expertise.

He has the enviable ability to comprehend, contextualize, absorb and recall even the most obscure technology-related information, a skill that has served him well during his tenure at the company, making him one of the most respected technology journalists in his field.
