"There is no technology left at Prebon," says Patrick Keenan, the former group director at Prebon Yamane with responsibility for IT operations worldwide. That’s because Prebon has spun off its IT department into an independent company called Kinetech International, of which Keenan is now chairman.

Kinetech isn’t just Prebon’s IT department (though it is that, too). It aims to grow and support electronic marketplaces around Prebon’s liquidity pools, meaning it will do everything
