Just as investment firm American Century Investments grew from humble beginnings in 1950s Kansas City, so several challengers to the Wall Street order have emerged as the 2000s turned into 2010. Bats Global Markets has added to its original Bats Trading venue with Bats Options and Bats Europe, while Agora-X and StarPoint have increased their staffs at a similar rate to American Century growth in the early 1990s.

Each of these venues or their founders has their roots in the Security Investment
