UK Kay Review Demonstrates Antipathy towards HFT

The review was announced by the Secretary of State for Business, Vince Cable, in June 2010.

The interim report of The Kay Review of UK Equity Markets and Long-Term Decision Making has revealed industry hostility towards high-frequency trading (HFT).

The report, authored by Professor John Kay at the behest of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, said that while HFT has become a prevalent trading strategy in UK equity markets, industry respondents were not convinced about its positive effects on market structure.
