If Twitter is ever to prove a valuable source for trading firms monitoring the sentiment of certain stocks, is it not a prerequisite that it must be free from potential manipulation?

Whether or not the social media network could ever prove a reliable source from which firms might generate alpha is something that could be long contested, but advocates must be concerned that manipulative tweets caused shares in Sarepta Therapeutics and Audience to drop by 9.9 and 25 percent, respectively.
