Equinix Plans Zurich Data Center

Equinix is expanding its Swiss facilities and building the new center in Zurich due to increased customer activity.

Equinix has announced that it will build a new data center in Zurich, Switzerland, expanding its global network of International Business Exchange (IBX) facilities.

The new site, ZH5, will be located six-and-a-half kilometers from the city, and comprise around 6,670 square meters of space. The capital for the project has already been factored into existing budgets.

"We continuously endeavor to expand our state-of-the art IBXs across the globe to ensure our customers have the infrastructure to grow at their own pace," sys Marco Dottarelli, managing director at Equinix Switzerland. "The expansion in Switzerland underlines Equinix's leadership in the market in terms of connectivity, ecosystems and security."

In addition to ZH5, Equinix also announced that it will expand its existing facility in Geneva, GV2, by 720 square meters.
