JonesTrading Insitutional Services, an equity block trader and execution firm based in California, is opening an office in London that will be operational in Q2 of 2015 as it looks to grow its presence to Europe.
The move will be led by Gary Cunningham, who most recently served as CEO of US operations at agency-only brokerage Execution LLC, and allows JonesTrading to focus on cross border trading between Europe and the US and trading blocks in European ordinary equities.
The opening of the office is further indication of JonesTrading's intent to move into more global marketplaces, after their expansion into trading Asian securities over the past few years.
"With the continued shifts in global market structure, our ability, consistently proven over decades, to access liquidity and to build blocks designed to meet client intent is more essential than ever," says Alan Hill, CEO of JonesTrading. "Providing European clients with this capability will build our franchise, as we continue to align our interests solely with our clients'."
