The more prime broker relationships, the better

A new Tabb Group report, Hedge Funds 2008: Perspectives on prime brokerage, volatility and expansion, surveyed 61 US hedge fund managers with $227 billion in combined assets under man-agement earlier this year on issues including risk management, leverage, prime brokerage relation-ships, and expansion efforts.

The report finds that the US prime brokerage business remains healthy, on track to earn $11.5 billion in client fees this year, a 15% rate of growth from 2006. Prime brokers will of course
