London--Michael Bloomberg predicted that the financial industry will see the "revenge of the traditional supplier", referring to both market data vendors and investment banks, as people realise that the Internet business model of offering commodity services at low-to-no cost, or even at a loss, cannot survive. His comments were made to a standing-room only crowd during the keynote panel presentation at last week's City Information Show, held at the Barbican in London.
