Users: Regulation Key to Data Strategy

INSIDE MARKET DATA EUROPE 2006 CONFERENCE REPORT

Regulatory changes such as the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) emerged as one of the key driving forces behind firms' market data strategies, according to participants in the "Rights and Responsibilities" user panel at last week's IMD Europe conference.

While panelists said that MiFID—which is set to become law in November next year—needs to be further examined to determine its impact on individual roles, one of its effects is expected to be an increase in the volumes of data
