Reuters told employees last week that it is axing 200 jobs in the UK and US as it moves part of its content production business to Bangalore.
The announcement confirms reports that Reuters is opening a content development center in India to cut costs (IMD, Aug. 11). But Reuters has also revealed that a total of 400 employees will be working there by the end of 2004. Of these, 200 jobs will be migrated from existing content production centers and 200 Indian graduates will be recruited locally.
