The Slicing Begins: Reuters Fires 100 From Quotron Unit

Reuters has laid off 100 employees of Quotron -- some 20 percent of the vendor's staff -- as part of a reorganization of the newly acquired unit. The firings, which came down earlier this month, hit hardest in Quotron's customer service and marketing groups, with some cuts made in sales and development too.

The move was the first major change Reuters made since completing its acquisition of Quotron at the end of March (IMD, April 11). At the time, Reuters officials put in place a transitional
