Bad Pricing Data:a Problem That Won’t Go Away

While researching Reuters’ share price history recently, we looked to Dow Jones Interactive and Yahoo! Finance’s historical databases. What we found surprised us, but not for the reason you think. We found that the ADR data for the March 7, 2000 high price did not match. Yahoo! Finance showed $156.94 while Dow Jones reported $157.25. To us, close--like in hand grenades and horseshoes--is OK. But to professional investors, close isn’t nearly good enough.
