Because a major investor backed out of its commitment, Meridian Emerging Markets had to cease operations and sell off its various assets. Its database offered information on companies operating in emerging markets. Companies interested in the database, which was being offered nonexclusively, included Standard & Poor’s, Japan-based Pacific Data, The MacGregor Group and US-based GBRC.
