Data Broadcasting Corp. has formed a new division, information services, and has tapped Edward Anderson as the division's president. The division includes DBC-West, which develops and markets financial and sports information news services and BMI, a financial information service marketed by Broadcast International. Data Broadcasting acquired Broadcast International Inc. earlier this year. Stockholders voted in June to merge the two companies (IMD, July 17). Anderson was most recently executive vice president and managing director of DBC's international division.

Douglas Smith

, who was president of DBC-West, has been named executive vice president, strategic planning, for DBC. Smith is a former president and chief operating officer of Shark Information Services Corp., which was sold by DBC to ADP in May (IMD, May 22). Both Anderson and Smith will report to Alan Hirschfield and Allan Tessler, co-chief executive officers.
