CBB's MarketPower Cleared; But Cantor Is Seen Prevailing

WILMINGTON, Del.--A judge last week denied Cantor Fitzgerald LP's motion for a preliminary injunction against Chicago Board Brokerage's electronic trading system, MarketPower. Although it clears the way for the launch of the system, the war is not yet over--the judge also found that Cantor is 'likely to succeed' in its lawsuit, which is scheduled for a hearing on Jan. 4, 1999.
The suit revolves around the fact that Market Data Corp. (MDC), which processes Cantor's Treasury and agency security
