As expected (IMD, Feb. 26), a proposal to suspend quotations on inactive options series during the peak opening period was drafted at the Options Industry Conference in Indian Wells, Calif., last month. The proposal, which is being reviewed by the options exchanges, defines rules for declaring certain options series as inactive, says Leo McBlain, vice president at ADP and an official of the Financial Information Forum. The plan promises to reduce options traffic by about 27 percent, he says.
