Deutsche Börse has taken over the Chicago Business Barometer index of key economic factors, and plans to integrate it with the exchange’s Market Data & Analytics division, to make it part of its AlphaFlash machine-readable feed of news and economic events, and expand the service to a broader client base.

The exchange bought the index—also known as the Chicago Purchasing Managers’ Index—by acquiring the assets of its calculator, Kingsbury International, a business and economic development
