Market data vendor Markit has appointed Mark Schaedel, former head of global market data at NYSE Euronext, as managing director in its information division.

Schaedel spent more than 10 years at NYSE in New York and Europe, and was most recently co-founder of the COBA Project, a now-defunct initiative to create an industry-led pan-European consolidated tape.

In his new role, he is based in London and reports to Tim Sargent and Brad Hunt, global co-heads of equities at Markit.
