"A buy-side firm could be working in a particular sector or industry and want to find out what the sell side is seeing, without revealing an exact security name. They might be interested in three or four names," says Vessel chief executive Joseph Wesley, adding that the vendor is developing the service with "a couple" of buy-side client partners. "It allows the buy side to engage [with dealers] in a more targeted manner."
