Reuters Stays in the Picture

This week's news about Reuters centers on the salary packages of its top executives. Reuters' corporate communications staff, worried that last year's criticism of these salaries will resurface, are no doubt shoring up their defenses.

In this case, we don't really see what the fuss is about. CEO Tom Glocer et al are undoubtedly well paid; Reuters is even paying Glocer's rent. But more than last year, the pay seems to be deserved. Last month Reuters announced a before-tax profit for full-year 2003
