FPL Panel: Innovation Must Continue, Despite Costs

Exchanges, vendors and users must be ready to create, distribute and implement new data products, in spite of the costs and technical obstacles to doing so if they want to remain competitive, according to participants in a market data panel at last week's FIX Protocol conference in New York.

Much of the changes are being driven by algorithmic trading and new regulations, such as Reg NMS in the US and MiFID in Europe, aimed at promoting transparency, competition and fast markets.
