The panelists praised vendors for the progress they have made so far in establishing more trust-based partnerships—for example, Ed Flynn, senior director of market data services at Fidelity Investments, singled out one un-named vendor that last year pulled out of an RFP process with Fidelity because the deal wasn't right for them, rather than trying to bluff their way into a contract that would have been unsuitable for the firm.

Flynn also said that vendors have improved the way they structure
