This autumn, Cusip Global Services (CGS) signed up its first European client for the use of the Cusip identifier for syndicated loans, a move that is expected to increase automation in the syndicated loan market. Yet, the launch of the identifier for syndicated loans was announced last year, and the Loan Market Association (LMA) in Europe kicked off the initial work around two years ago when research showed the lack of standard identifiers for loans and counterparties was seen as a top challenge
