Quandl Raises $12M to Boost Alternative Datasets

The new funding will enable Quandl to acquire and productize more alternative datasets, officials say.

Quandl will use the funding to continue its efforts to productize alternative datasets that offer predictive insights, ranging from those focusing on consumer behavior and business intelligence to industrial metrics.

"Alternative data is about to explode. We believe that it will be the primary driver of active investment performance over the next decade," says Quandl founder and chief executive Tammer Kamel.

As a result of the funding round, Nexus founder Naren Gupta has joined Quandl's board
