Instinet Chief Gets Top Spot In Reuters America Holdings--As Other Execs Are Passed Up

Michael Sanderson--the chief executive officer of Instinet Corp. and an outsider to Reuters' mainline hierarchy--has been named chairman of Reuters America Holdings Inc., effective Jan. 1. The move comes as Reuters America's profitability, although improving, still lags that of Reuters Asia and Reuters Europe, Middle East & Africa. The promotion also follows consistently stellar earnings performances at Instinet, featuring the vendor's highest growth rates companywide.
