IT Spending Slows But Does Not Stop in the Bear Market

NEW YORK--The news for the last few months has centered on cutbacks and layoffs at financial services companies, particularly in the US. But Buy Side IT’s informal survey of IT officers and consultants reveals that the market downturn actually may not be the worst thing since round-the-clock WWF programming.

After all, IT exists to support the business of investment management, and difficult times require the strongest support of all.

A study by Boston-based Tower Group suggests that IT
