When the concept of straight-through processing (STP) of the trade lifecycle was first entertained almost a decade ago, many industry practitioners saw it as an absolute and not a drawn-out incremental process. But as Stewart Eisenhart reports, buy-side firms are still a fair way off achieving totally automated trading environments, regardless of the vendor community's insistence that STP has arrived.
