First Albany Gives Regionals The Benefit Of Its Experience

The original software for UPFRONT was developed in 1984 by First Albany Corp., the regional brokerage firm based in Albany, N.Y. The software was licensed to BTC, a First Albany subsidiary founded in September 1986.

BTC has rewritten the software to expand capacity and functionality, including the latest features of ADP's BTS. First Albany's UPFRONT system processed up to 2,400 trades a day in 1987, while Gruntal's version handled daily peak volume of up to 12,000 trades, says Kevin O'Keefe
