Loanet Introduces New Lending Product At Merrill

With the securities lending business taking off internationally, this may be a good time to launch an international stock loan record-keeping system. Loanet Inc., the Salem, New Hampshire-based company that has processed domestic stock loans since 1982, has done just that.

Last week, the company began testing its new system in the New York office of Merrill Lynch's securities lending department.

Between 100 and 200 of the "thousands" of stock loan transactions conducted daily on Merrill's floor
