Conservative Victory May Smooth LSE-TMX Tie-Up

The TMX Group–London Stock Exchange merger was not on Canada’s general election ballot yesterday, but the victory of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's pro-business Conservative Party is good news for the proposed deal.

Now that the Conservatives hold a 167-seat majority in the 308-seat parliament, any federal issues regarding the merger will probably be smaller than those potentially raised by the Liberal Party that lost 43 seats in the contest.
