OneChicago might think about installing a hotline that connects the office of its CEO to that of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

According to CEO David Downey, he is on the phone with at least one of those agencies every single day. Once or twice a month, he travels to Washington to lobby for OneChicago in person.

Downey has two agendas: He wants regulators to recognize his exchange as a viable
