Capital IQ's Purchase of TheMarkets to Yield Integrated Research, Estimates Platform

Standard & Poor's Capital IQ division has bought broker research consortium TheMarkets.com for an undisclosed sum to combine the vendors' offerings and create a data, research and estimates business that Capital IQ hopes will allow it to compete for business among investment managers against rival larger vendors.

Over the next 12 months, Capital IQ plans to combine the vendors' platforms in a single back-end repository of content and tools, though it will continue to offer different front-end
