Buying Gnip will help Twitter enhance its direct data sales business

Gnip has been a distribution partner of Twitter for the past four years, which allows the vendor to provide trading clients with a datafeed of Twitter data─sourced directly via Twitter's API─for sentiment analysis as an input to trading decisions.

In a blog post, Twitter officials say the company wants to work directly with customers to understand their needs, and by acquiring Gnip, will be able to make its data more accessible.
