Broker Advest Group Switches Portfolio System, Forcing BSC Unit To Move Too

Advest Group Inc. is switching its portfolio management system from National Investor Data Services Inc.'s NIDSPORT to Integrated Decision Systems Inc.'s UNIX-based Investment Manager II. But the move leaves Advest's Boston Security Counselors investment management subsidiary in the lurch, forcing it to scramble to find a substitute for NIDSPORT, which it had been sharing with its parent.

Hartford-based Advest is a regional retail broker that manages about $200 million through a wrap-fee program
